Ministries Children's Ministry

Our children are a gift from God. At Christ Church we believe the primary responsibility for the spiritual growth of a child is with the parent, but in addition to that, the Church commits to help in this task by doing "all in our power" to support the child's life in Christ. The Children's Ministry at Christ Church is committed to:

  • winning children to Christ, that their faith would "catch up" to their baptism
  • building up our children to be authentic disciples, loving God and all people
  • sending our children out into their world now, and ultimately into the adult world, to bring the Kingdom of God wherever God might send them.

We do this through our Sunday morning Children's Church time (during the sermon on Sundays) and through our Wednesday Fall Teaching Series (with a dedicated time for the kids). The goal of our ministry is to model the Christian life for our kids and to communicate the core content of the Christian faith as well as the portions of the "whole counsel of God" which seem most appropriate for children their age. This will include the following topics:

  • the Family Stories: the major stories of the Bible and Church History
  • the Sacraments/Gospel: the Sacraments explaining the Gospel, and the Gospel giving meaning the symbols of the Sacraments.
  • the Creed(s): mainly the Apostle's Creed
  • the 10 Commandments
  • the Lord's Prayer: this and other prayers in the Scripture and Book of Common Prayer are used to teach the children prayer.

Our nursery is open on Sundays during both services. On Sunday mornings, feel free to register and drop your baby off 10-15 minutes before the service starts.  The nursery is available for Newborn Infants up to 1 year old.

Toddlers

Our Toddler Room is open on Sunday mornings during both services. The toddler room is for children between 2 to 4 years of age.  You can drop off your toddler 10-15 minutes before the service starts.   When you get to church, just ask one of our greeters (or anyone really) where the toddler room is.

Our ministry to children (ages 4-9) takes place primarily on Sunday mornings through our Children's Church time (during the sermon on Sundays).  We have Children's Church during both services on Sunday morning.   The children leave right after the "Songs of Praise" near the beginning of the service, and then they go upstairs and receive some teaching on the same Bible text(s) which the adults hear in the service.  This usually involves a game, a craft, some Bible reading and prayer.  The Children's church leaders and helpers bring the children back into the service at the "passing of the peace" before Communion.
