Life Groups

The Vision for Life Groups

Life Groups at Christ Church are one of the ways we share in the life of Jesus and make his life known in particular places. We do this by devoting ourselves to food, fellowship, scripture, and prayer in small gatherings (Acts 2:42). We encourage our life groups to be as geographically based as possible for the following three reasons:

Place-Making

Place matters. Scripture concerns itself with placemaking from Genesis to Revelation. It begins with God making a particular and local place, the Garden of Eden. It ends with a particular place descending from heaven to earth, the New Jerusalem.

Incarnation

Christ takes on flesh, lives in a particular place, and remains there his whole life. His ministry was local. As Eugene Peterson says it in his paraphrase of John 1:14: “The Word of God took on flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.”

Mission

God providentially places us as his ambassadors of reconciliation where we live, work, and go to school. Obediently, we reach out and serve our neighbors, sharing the gospel in our neighborhoods through word and deed.

How to Get Involved

Here are some of the options for how you can join a Life Group at Christ Church, or at least visit one, in your neighborhood.

Reach Out to Us

The easiest way you can get connected is to click below and fill out the interest form. We can let you know what Life Groups are in your area.

Church Center

We use Planning Center Groups (accessible via the Church Center App) for Life Group communication. Click the button below to check out what Life Groups are near you.

Ask a friend

If you have already connected with someone at Christ Church, ask them which Life Group they attend and visit with them. Or, if they aren’t apart of a Life Group yet, y’all can both do one of the first two options!

What to Expect

Life Groups are small groups of 6 - 12 adults that gather for food, fellowship, and prayer. Most life groups meet every other week in the evenings in parishioner's homes. They run (roughly) from Labor Day in the Fall to Memorial Day in the Spring, taking a hiatus in the summer.

At Christ Church we encourage seeking life groups in your immediate vicinity. This regional, geographic approach seeks to fulfill the vision modeled after Jesus' Incarnation as stated above.

Planting a New Life Group

We are currently looking to grow new Life Groups. If you don't see one in your area, or there are several that are full, or, there isn't a time that works for your schedule, please feel free to reach out using the form below if you are interested in helping plant a new Life Group. *Please note, this does not mean you must be the Host of a new life group—you could also help as an Admin, or pass on responsibility as we find other people interested in starting a new one in your area.*
