Simple Sermon Notes | Deeper Roots 2

Life together, each to each,
beginning always and remaining within
God’s Holy Word, His Ancient Laws
enlivened and fresh to our distracted hearts.

Life together, each with each,
a sharing of selves who all receive,
pouring out even as filled, giving
time, talent, and treasure, all of it gift.

Life together, each from each,
made hungry and needy, dependent on bread
and yet hungry for life so much more,
a continual feast more than mere sustenance.

Life together, each in each,
a shared language, shared breath,
a shared spirit of grace, words spoken
and unspoken, pleading, praising, in awe.

Life together without ceasing,
in space, time and heart. not as chosen
or dreamed of, but given by God,
working at love, growing roots, pouring out, taking in.

Open space, open time, to these flawed broken brothers,
these sisters and mothers—all God’s family, as any,
messy, vibrant, and raw, but together through all
in the scriptures, the fellowship, shared meals, and prayer.
