A Barren Land No More | Isaiah 7
“Rejoice now in the promised creation.”
Our fractures and fracturings creep larger,
with yawning chasms crumbling to dust.
Our rejoicing can spread wider still.
There is no room at the last for despair
nor must we wait to the last.
It cannot even be called an eclipse,
given how wide the Mender’s hand.
Even as we wait the waters wend,
blossoming into the thirsty ground.
Sheep and birds and man drink
and laugh and dance with glee.
The way through this green land
flows high and free with heads aloft
in the light of the redeemed.
We take joy now in the yet to be,
for the hands that made us sustain us
and the shadows of longing flee.
